EDDA's mission is based on its name. EDDA means Icelandic great-grandmother - an old wise woman who lovingly cares for all her children and the children of their children. Above all, she supports her grandchildren in the process of finding their own way through the life until the threshold of their adulthood. She offers unconditional acceptance as a source of soul nourishment to
- young children (from birth to 7 years) and their parents / grandparents
- school children (7 to 12 years)
- adolescent children (13 to 19 years)
- almost adult children (19 to 30 years)
- children who stand out in any way
- children who are not afraid to speak another language
- children who need a hug when they are not feeling well
But the great-grandmother can't take care of them all alone. She needs helpers - a community of parents, non-parents and other fellows, no matter the age. Together, they contribute to the sustainable development of a man and the country in a holistic way. EDDA is available everywhere and anytime is needed.
The acronym EDDA is composed of the words Education (upbringing) Didactics (forms, procedures and aims of teaching), Dialogue (open communication) and Alternative (as a way of community work according to the needs of all age and social groups).
We actively participate and encourage the development of civil society on the principles of solidarity, coexistence of generations, lifelong learning and a playful way of life in the spirit of the motto: Together we change the world.
The purpose of the association is to carry out the following socially useful activities to fulfill its mission described above:
a) to provide educational care in the model of micro-nurseries, nurseries, children's groups, etc. (primarily for children up to the beginning of compulsory school attendance) and to support (not only) women in reconciling professional and family life;
b) to run leisure, educational and sports activities for children, youth, parents and grandparents (camps, clubs, sports clubs, festivals, balls, craft workshops, seminars and others);
c) to support adolescents in the process of their self-development, to encourage young people to volunteer in the Czech Republic as well as abroad, or in humanitarian activities;
d) to support families taking care of a dependent member by providing a respite service;
e) to provide environmental education, training and awareness; to contribute to the development of literacy and a sustainable way of life;
f) to support the development of alternative and community formal and non-formal education - rental of didactic tools not only for children but also for seniors;
g) to act on what is happening in the community from the community center position (social work with different target groups regardless of their age, social status, ethnicity, etc.), in cooperation with local organizations / government / companies;
h) to development of competences for lifelong learning and desire to participate actively in social life - support of active aging;
i) to cooperate multidisciplinary to promote the mental health of children, adolescents, young people and vulnerable groups, develop preventive activities and primary, secondary and tertiary prevention programs in formal and non-formal education;
j) to be a part of international networks and cooperation (e.g. Eurodesk partnerships), support the international education of youth and youth workers not only in EU countries;
k) to contribute to the peaceful solution of global problems, to be apolitical in our activities
l) to support any other diversity in the care of children and adults.
