Silkeborg Ungdomsskole offers flexible formal and non-formal learning activities to young people aged 14 to 18 years old based in Silkeborg. The organisation consists of circa 300 learners engaged in formal education, 36 teaching staff and 16 other staff. There are circa 2000 young people involved in the leisure department at the school.
The educational and leisure activities offered by the school are organised according to three different departments:
- The 10th grade center & GFU (Basic course for young foreigners)
- Højmarksskolen - a special department for young people with challenges with the traditional school system
- The leisure department - a department that works with well-being in communities and personal growth for all young people between the ages of 13 and 18 in Silkeborg municipality

The 10th grade centre handles Silkeborg municipality's 10th grade exam preparation education, where 150 young people are divided into the centre's three profiles GYM10, FOKUS 10 and EUD10.
The school also takes care of Silkeborg Municipality's offer for newly arrived young people. They will be prepared for further education.

The 10th class centre, GFU and Højmarkskolen are part of the formal school system. All three school offers have their own student council with influence on student well-being and teaching.

The leisure department at Silkeborg Ungdomsskole, offers non-formal learning opportunities through thematic leisure activity teams, youth clubs, camps and excursions.
