Opis organizacije

Cinemaximiliaan is a non-profit organisation with a love for cinema and artistic and cultural practices. Reaching newcomers and their living situations is the primary concern of operation and we operate via a “with, not for” attitude. Programs around film offer a platform on which newcomers and movie lovers get together, start warm dialogues, share stories, form friendships and seize opportunities. The social cinema’s potential accelerates the integration process and has the potential to diversify cultural life in Brussels and Belgium. Cinemaximilian plans to broaden its borders and also continue to work on deployment internationally of films as a trigger for cross-border cultural dialogue. By embracing differences and stimulating everyone's creative abilities, we aim to promote and realise a more inclusive society.

Cinemaximiliaan can offer our target audience a wide variety of activities, connections and experiences via our activities which include networking with wider organisations throughout Brussels and Belgium; planning, hosting and promoting public and community events such as screening films by newcomers, festivals and other engaging, cultural activities to promote solidarity and integration and to raise awareness of issues of migration. The establishment of a “Social Guest House” aims to provide both migrants and artists with a place to stay is in progress and there is scope for ideas for the social space that will be provided in the same building.
