The Cavan Centre is a company limited by guarantee with charity status (Charity No: 10639) The Centre is ran by a voluntary board of management and was established in 1977. Funded by Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth, under the UBU Programme, Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection and Dublin City Council. Since 1977 we have been supporting those that are in any way disadvantaged to expand their personal and social development through outdoor education, experiential learning and training.
The Centre employs 5 full time staff on the Empowering Communities Programme; 1 Project Leader, 1 Administrator and 3 Community Youth Workers, funded by Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth under the UBU Your Place, Your Space. The Centre has a panel of part-time Activity Workers and Volunteers. The Centre also has a Community Employment Project consisting of 1 Supervisor and 16 part-time CE participants, funded by the Department of Employment and Social Protection.
Mission Statement: The Cavan Centre will provide a residential resource to promote Youth & Community Work based on a Community Development process through the medium of Education, Experiential Learning and Personal Development, primarily from disadvantaged and marginalised groups from the North Inner City of Dublin.
The Cavan Centre is situated on an 11 acre site in the rural setting of Ballyjamesduff, in County Cavan.
