A szervezet leírása

Democracy International (DI) is a non-profit association founded in Cologne in 2011. Our core mission is to develop democracy further, to link the individuals working on participation, and to include more individuals and groups in the conversation. Our NGO strengthens citizen participation and direct democracy at all political levels. For our work, we have been awarded the Good Lobby Award as NGO of the
Year 2018 and the 3rd prize of the Charlemagne Youth Prize 2022.

DI is active in the following areas:
- Active Society: DI supports citizens in their active participation in Europe. Since 2018, we have been bringing citizens together in the traveling conversation space "Europe Dome". More than 1,300 people in 13 EU-countries have discussed the future of the EU.

- Global Democracy Community: DI is the main organiser of the world's largest conference on participatory and direct democracy, the Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy. Whether Rome, Tai-Chung, Lucerne or Mexico City, more than 500 people from six continents share best practices in each edition.

- Youth and Democracy: Young people in Europe are a special target group. In our annual 5-day Democracy Camp, youth from European countries develop suggestions on how to improve their means of participation. Making youth participation an internal reality, we participate in several qualification and volunteer programmes.

Our work mainly (at least 90%) takes place as office work at the office in Cologne and remote computer work from home. In addition, several times per year, you will be travelling to different locations in Europe for the projects you are working on.
