The Monastery Rambin gGmbH develops in collaboration with „Leben ins Kloster Rambin e.V“, a self-managed community project within a residential complex and garden. The unique feature of this location is that it is a protected garden ensemble with historically protected buildings.
At its heart, this project is shaped by ten older individuals from diverse personal backgrounds. Monastery Rambin, surrounded by beautiful nature, is situated in a small village just a 15-minute train ride away from the city of Stralsund, which is located on the Baltic Sea.
Our primary goal is to restore the old buildings with their original historical materials and inhabit them. Moreover we aim to provide affordable housing options for socially disadvantaged people and intend to manage the old garden areas and parklands ecologically. Furthermore, we will promote biodiversity and preserving or redesigning old-growth trees.
Our project also seeks to revive cultural engagement, preserving the heritage of our chapel and the area.
This year, our main activities include revitalizing abandoned apartments, repairing animal shelters and fences, gardening , maintenance work in the park, and cultural events.
