With the Law No. 7141, which was adopted on 09/05/2018, on the Amendment of the Higher Education Law and Some Laws and Decrees, published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2018, and numbered 30425, with the additional article made to the law numbered 2809, it was renamed Gaziantep Science and Technology University, Afterwards, in the first paragraph of the title of the Law No. 7161 No. 7161 and additional article 178 of the Law No. 2809 on the Amendment of Tax Laws and Some Laws and Decrees with the Force of Law published in the Official Gazette dated January 18, 2019, and numbered 30659. It was established by changing the phrase "Gaziantep Science and Technology University" in the first place to "Gaziantep Islamic Science and Technology University".
As per the appointment decision published in the Official Gazette dated March 14, 2023, and numbered 32133, Prof. Dr Şehmus DEMİR has been appointed.
