AKDDCL is a Tunisian NGO founded in 2014, based on the Kerkennah archipelago. Rooted in this Mediterranean archipelago's unique cultural and environmental identity, our mission is to promote sustainable, inclusive development by combining biodiversity protection, cultural heritage preservation, and community empowerment. We focus on building the capacities of young people (15–35), women and local communities through non-formal education, active engagement, and social innovation. Our goal is to enable individuals to become changemakers, ready to face the ecological, cultural and socio-economic challenges of Kerkennah. Our main activities are : 1- Capacity-building - Implement environmental and active citizenship projects using participatory methods and non-formal education ; - Develop exchanges and host volunteers to help young people gain new perspectives, cross-cutting skills, and enrich their personal and professional paths 2- Protection of the environment : - Co-management of a future MCPA in the Kerkennah ; - Raising awareness on marine and coastal ecosystems protection; - Conservation of IUCN Red List species ; - Apply the Barcelona Convention to protect marine and coastal habitats; - Addressing illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing ; - Promotion of sustainable tourism and eco-friendly artisanal fishing, to preserve local heritage. 3- Cultural heritage : -Safeguarding and sharing intangible heritage -Organizing the Kratten festival of Mediterranean island culture
