UCOS (Universitair Centrum voor Ontwikkelingssamenwerking vzw) is a Brussels-based Belgian NGO that promotes global citizenship, inclusion and solidarity within higher education in Flanders and Brussels. We believe that sustainable and just development starts with critical, informed and engaged citizens who recognise and challenge global inequalities and discrimination in all their forms. UCOS works mainly with students, academics and international offices from universities and university colleges, empowering them to act as agents of change for a fairer and more inclusive world. Our main strategies are: 1) Global citizenship education: workshops, courses and trainings that address decolonisation, anti-racism, gender equality, climate justice and human rights. 2) Inclusive mobility and partnerships: preparation and coaching for ethical North-South exchanges, developed in collaboration with international partners, to ensure equitable and respectful cooperation. 3) Youth activation and community engagement: campaigns and learning-action communities that encourage young people to stand up against racism, inequality and exclusion. 4) Networking and collaboration: partnerships with Flemish higher-education institutions and global civil-society actors to mainstream inclusive, decolonial and solidarity-driven education. UCOS aims to empower young people to become engaged global citizens who actively contribute to an equitable, sustainable and anti-discriminatory world.
