ARAMM, Association Roannaise des Amis de Maria Montessori, is a French non-profit organisation founded in 2015, running two Montessori schools in Roanne (Loire, France) for children and adolescents aged 2 to 15. Our aim is to provide an alternative educational path rooted in Montessori philosophy: fostering autonomy, curiosity and responsibility through hands-on learning, with no grades or sanctions. We educate children in full respect of their intellectual, emotional, social and moral needs, so that they grow into engaged, open-minded and responsible European citizens. Our main activities take place across two schools. Our primary school in central Roanne welcomes 70 children aged 2 to 11, with a team of six AMI-trained staff in total. Our secondary school in nearby Mably, opened in 2023, welcomes 26 adolescents aged 11 to 15 and functions as a self-managed micro-community: students hold rotating responsibilities, prepare daily meals, tend a biological garden, practice crafts and engage in collective artistic and ecological projects. They are guided by three Montessori educators. Our target groups are children and adolescents aged 2 to 15, their families, and the broader local community of the Roanne area, including volunteers and local civic and cultural partners.
