Sund Folk College is a boarding school hosting approx 100 students. The students are 19-20 years old. Sund Folk College aims at being a “school for life - oriented to the world”! Sund is founded on being a political and religious independent non-profit school. The school is dedicated to community involvement. Especially three areas are important to us; international solidarity, sustainable development and the value of art and culture. These three areas dominate both the education and the daily life at the school. The courses provided at Sund Folk College are; • Active Africa • The UN major • Photo Japan • Jazz • Amazon Rain Forest • Solidarity North-South * Handicraft, recycling and tradition Volunteers in Sund will be working with culture as, photography, film, painting, music, or/and dance together with the students. The volunteers will also do some work at the local youth-cafe. They will arrange workshops, courses, events and fun for students and local youth.

Sund Folk College is a boarding school, and the volunteers will live in the school together with the students. The volunteers get a private room, with shared bathroom. Food is served for everybody from our main kitchen, and a smaller kitchen is also available. Sund is beautifully located in the middle of Norway, 120 km north of Trondheim. Best transportation is local train. In order to travel to Sund Folk College, you may take the train from Trondheim to Røra. If you come by plane, Trondheim airport is 1,5 hours from the school.

Školení během projektu

The volunteers will be part of the school society with approx. 100 students and 24 employees. We work together and learn from each other both when it comes to social skills, practical skills and theoretical subjects. We will provide help for you according to your skills. If you like to take photos or make film, we will help you out. If you like to paint or work with other artistic handicraft we will find equipment to you. Your days will follow the school life, and you may attend lessons together with the students, and you may also lead the lessons according to your skills.

To be a volunteer in Sund folk high school is a fantastic opportunity. We have had EVS volunteers in our school for 4 years, and they are all very happy. You may learn some Norwegian and also some practical skills, but most of all you will love the nature, the view and the people in the school. You get friends for life, and they get to know someone from a different country and culture than their own.
The food is delicious, we are in the countryside so the air is fresh and you may even learn how to go skiing. Přeložit
