Odemira na Europa III - CREATIVE SÃO LUÍS

Popis projektu

ODEMIRA NA EUROPA III - EVS project is coordinated by the Municipality of Odemira and comprehends 8 volunteering positions in the county of Odemira, rural South of Portugal. It's a collective volunteering experience involving 6 local partners. GAIA is a Portuguese environmental NGO, working in Alentejo region with local rural communities, together with local entities and informal groups. This EVS position focuses on ARTS and comprehends the partnership between GAIA Alentejo and “Ateneu do Catorze”, collective of artists in São Luís. One volunteer will be hosted by GAIA Alentejo/ “Ateneu do Catorze” for 12 months and will support the maintenance of the space, the creation process of resident artists and the events of contemporary culture promoted by “Ateneu do Catorze”. The volunteer will also carry out a creative project with the local community of São Luís and will be encouraged to develop her/his own artistic work.

Ubytování, stravování, doprava

The volunteer will lodge in a shared house in São Luís, together with the other volunteer hosted by GAIA Alentejo. In this house, the volunteer will have an individual bedroom. The house is fully equipped, has a shared living room and a kitchen where the volunteer can freely prepare her/his meals. It is possible to host volunteer’s guests. Meals are prepared by the volunteer, for which s/he receives a monthly fee. The volunteer will have a bicycle for local transport in São Luís. Whenever necessary to travel outside of São Luís for EVS activities, GAIA assures the organisation of transports.

Has never done EVS before: Has a clear motivation to live in a small community (2000 inhabitants) with rural characteristics, for one year; Has a specific interest in arts and contemporary culture: poetry, dance, cinema, theatre, music, visual arts...; Has artistic competences (no specific area required); Enjoys working with her/his hands and be open to regular maintenance tasks; Has interest and capacity to learn and express her/himself in Portuguese language; Is a self-motivated and a dynamic person.
