De Switch is a residential setting that hosts girls between 14 and 18 years old with multiple problems/trauma (behavior, family, social, psychological, economical…). We coach them and their family context individually in what is the best way to get their life back on the rails. Besides help and therapy we give them a house/place where they can participate to activities that aren't related to their problems. In the residence, the girls and workers live together and take part in daily activities and tasks from the household. The activities can be sports, arts, music, experiences animals. The volunteer will help in tasks like cooking, taking care of the house, shopping, and also proposing evening activities/workshops, where volunteers can share their hobbies and passions. Working hours are mainly in afternoon/evening, sometimes a satursday, since the girls have school or therapy in the day. In schoolvacation the volunteer supports the day programm with activities.
Nastanitev, prehrana in prevoz
The volunteer will live in a house near to the project(app 2km) together with other ESCvolunteers. It is located in a small village. The volunteer will have a room that he/she can lock with a key. Bathroom and kitchen are in common with other volunteers. Terras and outside places are in common with another project. The volunteer is getting a food budget to arrange his food outside the work hours. During work the volunteer has lunch or dinner in the project. The volunteer will get a bike to go to the project, the shop, the bus or train station. A bus card is provided to travel with the bus.
Usposabljanje med dejavnostjo
In the first month the volunteer will get some explanations about life in the project, language course and living together with other volunteers. The volunteer will take part in an on arrival training organized by the National agency and in the mid term training. During the year the project is providing language support to learn Dutch and coaching moments for personal learning and understanding of philosophy of the work.
Profil udeleženca
have social skills to communicate, get in contact with the youngsters through his/her tasks on the project. • mature enough to deal with, get along with non-motivated youngsters with behaviour problems. - willing to learn Dutch - Dutch is the main language spoken in the project • Able to organise work by yourself, taking initiative for own projects and activities to develop. • Open minded - Being an evening person is a plus since most working hours are in the afternoon/evening (till 21h) • able to live in rural setting (not in a city, nearest city Leuven is 12km) - transport is by bus and bike + going by bike to your project (2km) The volunteer will not be an individual coach or therapist for the youngsters. You will be part of the house team, that takes care of the residential setting they live in and have a talks with them in informal settings (during dinner, cooking, an activity,...) or do some activities with them.
