Diaconia Charitable Foundation
Yerevan, Armenija
Opis
In 1988, the Armenian Relief Society in Germany launched a series of support programs in Armenia, laying the foundation for what would later become the Diaconia Charitable Foundation. Since then, Diaconia has grown into an impactful organization. The foundation's mission is to support families in need and empower individuals to become self-sufficient—helping them move beyond a state of dependency and toward a life of dignity and hope. Volunteers will work closely with children from socially vulnerable families in the Huysi Avan district, near the foundation. Their role will include: Supporting the foundation’s day-to-day initiatives Organizing cultural and educational development programs for children Distributing food and school supplies Coordinating recreational activities and cultural workshops This project is implemented with the support of Voluntary Service of Armenia HUJ and will host 2 ESC volunteers, for a duration of 10 to 12 months.
Nastanitev, prehrana in prevoz
The volunteers will be provided with convenient accommodation: the dormitory of a university in Yerevan, near the city center, featuring same-gendered rooms with two occupants each, shared bathroom, and a spacious kitchen. The dormitory is equipped with all necessities and ensures safety. 18 long-term ESC volunteers from different European countries reside in the dormitory. On the first day of each month, volunteers receive a monthly allowance, sent by HUJ to their bank cards, covering their pocket money, food, transportation, and internet expenses.
Usposabljanje med dejavnostjo
Upon the volunteer's arrival at the airport, they will receive a warm welcome by their mentor. Following this, an introductory meeting will be held at the HUJ office, where the organizational staff will formally greet the volunteers and assist in essential procedures for their stay in Yerevan (obtaining an Armenian phone number, a physical bank card, and arranging a meeting with their assigned mentor). During their mobility in Yerevan, volunteers will engage in two training sessions - an on-arrival and a mid-term training - organized by SALTO in Georgia.
Profil udeleženca
There are no gender restrictions regarding the selection/recruitment of volunteers. As per the ESC guide, the age of the volunteer should range from 18-30. The volunteer should be interested or have some experience in working with children; he/she should be enthusiastic, responsible, respectful, thoughtful and reliable. The main criterion for the choice of the volunteer-to-be are the activities they have planned for the project.
