Housing and integration project for young migrants in Spain

Opis

Open Cultural Center (OCC) is an NGO based in Spain (Catalunya) and Greece, working for the integration of refugees and migrants. OCC equips migrants with tools to access opportunities and build a future while advancing equality and inclusion within local communities through intercultural exchange and education. One of our projects in Spain is called Youth4All, and it's a housing project, where we provide accommodation to young migrants, as well as a professional training in fire prevention in order to develop their professional skills. On top of that, we offer language and digital skills classes, accompanying them through their journey to labor and social integration. The project is based in Moià, a small village in a rural area, 1h30 away from Barcelona. We are looking for volunteer for 12 months to support us in the organisation of the activities (language classes, digital skills learning etc.) and daily life (cooking etc.). You would be sharing a house with them.

Nastanitev, prehrana in prevoz

You would be sharing a house with the young people you would be supporting, as well as with the other volunteers of the project, in the small village of Moià, in the rural area of Moianès, 1h30 away from Barcelona by bus. You would receive 330€/month of pocket money, including money for food. Transport costs linked to the project will be covered by OCC.

Usposabljanje med dejavnostjo

The volunteers will be trained, guided and supported by the staff of the project (Project Coordinator and Social Worker) all along their volunteering period. They will receive an onboarding training on the project and the NGO, as well as day-by-day training on their first weeks, and specific training on safeguarding, use of online tools (Slack, Airtable, Notion etc.). Online languages classes will be available (Spanish, Catalan, Arabic). The volunteers can request specific trainings, and the organisation will try to accommodate them, as long as they are relevant to the volunteering experience.

Profil udeleženca

We are looking for participants interested in the topic of migration and integration and who would like to expand their knowledge and experience working in socio-educational projects. The participant would have to like working in a multicultural environment with young people and living in rural areas. We are looking for a proactive and autonomous person, who has the creativity to propose activities. Ideally, the person would speak both English and Spanish.
