Opis
SIW is an exchange organisation run mostly by volunteers for volunteering projects around the world and in the Netherlands. During your ESC project you will get the opportunity to discover different teams within SIW. Generally you will support the team at the office with different tasks, for example administrative support, customer contact, office management, write a Cultural Activity guide for volunteers who come to Utrecht, or digitalise the archive. You will also support our Marketing & communication team. Some days you will be speaking at a school or fair or getting to know the town and gathering (promo)material and half a day a week is for personal development. With your mentor and ESC coordinator you will discuss regularly what personal goals you have and how you can achieve these within our office.
Nastanitev, prehrana in prevoz
Our office is in the heart of Utrecht, a vibrant historic university city in the centre of the Netherlands. Your apartment with a private room and shared kitchen/living area is above the office. Because of the location, it can be somewhat noisy during the weekend, but there are abundant leisure activities. You will receive monthly pocket money and food money. The travel costs to start the project and to return home when the project is finished are refunded based on distance and you can use our office bicycle. We encourage you to travel green and come by train or bus.
Usposabljanje med dejavnostjo
Half a working day a week is dedicated to your self-development. To reflect on your progress, tasks and personal goals you will have meetings with your mentor and the ESC coordinator. You will attend the on-arrival and mid-term training organised by the National Agency and meet volunteers of other ESC projects within the Netherlands. SIW will offer you different assignments and training opportunities. You will improve your Dutch. A buddy who has done an ESC project is assigned to you and can help with practical questions, finding fun activities, or even doing them together.
Profil udeleženca
You are a social and open person, with good intercultural communication skills. It is important that you are independent on a personal level as well as in your work. You are open to discovering a new culture and are not afraid to go and create a social life for yourself outside of the office. You are interested in the Dutch language and culture and ideally have already some knowledge of the language. You are curious to try out new tasks and enthusiastic to learn new skills. Finally, as NGO's can seem a bit chaotic where your workweek can vary a lot with hands on tasks, it would be good to be a flexible professional.
