Mano A Mano is a Peruvian NGO committed to improving living conditions in vulnerable communities through environmental and social initiatives. The volunteer will support the organization in strengthening its governance to ensure long-term sustainability. The volunteer will perform the following activities: • Structure the Mano a Mano administrative committee. • Synthesize and organize the association's governance documents. • Consolidate a folder with internal management documents and summarize key information. • Raise awareness of the rights to education, work, and human rights. • Participate in the preparation of Useful Holidays for 150 children. • Support retaining wall construction and initiatives like sales or fairs. Through these actions, the volunteer will help bridge the association’s history with its future administrative needs.
Logi, mat och transporter
The volunteer will stay in a room at the Volunteer House, located in the same building as the office. Rooms are typically private but may be shared based on availability. Lunch is provided on office days and during field activities. The volunteer will use public transport to reach project sites. The NGO is located approximately 1.5 hours from central Lima; while the volunteer can visit the capital on weekends, they will mostly live within the community and must follow local environmental rules. The volunteer will be accompanied and guided by the local team and community members.
Utbildning under verksamheten
The volunteer will receive initial orientation and training upon arrival to ensure a smooth transition into the project. A weekly follow-up will be conducted to provide ongoing professional support. The volunteer will be trained in urban green area management by an expert with over 20 years of experience and will collaborate with civil engineers and architects on park planning. Training also covers document formalization and governance structuring within a humanitarian context. At the end of the mission, the volunteer will participate in a closing evaluation to reflect on their development.
Deltagarens profil
Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months. The volunteer will be committed to human rights advocacy and capacity building, with skills in document formalisation, governance and awareness raising. The volunteer will have experience or training in law, governance, administration or related areas, specifically including knowledge of human rights, the right to education, and labour law. The volunteer will possess skills in drafting and synthesis of legal and administrative documents and have the ability to analyse and organise complex information. Experience in volunteering is essential; the volunteer will have participated in solidarity projects, either in NGOs, community programmes or social initiatives. The volunteer will show strong adaptation to intercultural environments. Experience in community life and teamwork is highly valued; the volunteer will ideally have been part of groups such as the scout movement, summer camps, or collaborative projects with coexistence dynamics. Finally, the volunteer will demonstrate a deep interest in community awareness and training.
