This mission supports Alas de Colibrí, an organization defending human rights with an emphasis on human trafficking, gender violence, and child protection. The volunteer will work at a specialized shelter in North Quito for girls aged 12 to 17 who have survived abuse and trafficking. The goal is to provide psychological and educational support to help residents regain confidence and redefine their future perspectives. The volunteer will perform the following activities: •Support the restoration of rights and empower adolescents to exercise them •Assist the technical team in creating and implementing a new Youth Autonomy methodology •Facilitate workshops on women's rights, gender violence, and job search tools •Accompany adolescents in daily activities, medical controls, and family reintegration processes •Organize personal files and assist in data collection regarding the girls' social environments •Systematize organizational processes and workshops to enable future replication

To ensure a secure environment and facilitate local integration, the volunteer will reside with a host family. This living arrangement provides essential cultural immersion and a supportive domestic base while the volunteer engages in the demanding work of the mission. The project site is located in the Carcelén neighborhood of North Quito. Public transport is typically used for local movement. While lunch may be provided during certain activities, the volunteer will manage their personal food and movement expenses within the framework and monthly allowance provided by the program.

The volunteer will participate in a continuous training framework designed for sensitive social work. Initial workshops cover mental health, personal safety, sexual health, and nutrition. Specialized training focuses on domestic violence protocols, prevention of gender-based violence, and assertive communication. To balance the professional demands of the role, the volunteer will engage in personal development modules including meditation, self-esteem, self-knowledge, and empowerment techniques. The volunteer will also receive training on the systematization of methodologies and digital tools.

Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in an eligible country (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), and have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training. Due to the sensitive nature of the shelter, this mission is open strictly to female volunteers. The volunteer will ideally be a technician or professional in psychology, social management, sociology, or women's rights. High maturity and initiative are essential. The volunteer must possess English and Spanish proficiency at level B2. The volunteer will have leadership and group management skills, with a desirable background in developing inclusion projects for youth. The volunteer must be prepared to handle the structural complexities of human trafficking and abuse cases with discipline. Experience in data management, office packages, and a commitment to the defense of human rights and nature are highly valued. Total participation in EU volunteering programs cannot exceed 12 months.
