2026 ESC – WILD VIBES: A Rural Retreat to Reset and Thrive

Smokinya Foundation offers a 3 month experience in rural Bulgaria. This project includes shared responsibilities, communal living, and collaboration in the foundation tasks. This summer we focus on environment, sustainability and local impact: 2 weeks will be spent refurbishing a barn into an upcycling center and workshop. For 1.5 months, we will work as a team to clean up dumpsites around the village and sort materials that can be given a second life in the upcycling center. The final month will focus on revitalization of local hiking trails. If your goal is free travel and vacation, this project is not for you. Mrachenik is isolated and small, no bars, atms, pharmacies, 1 small shop (cash only). Life can be demanding in a rural village a requires adaptability. This is a wonderful opportunity to grow as a person, both in skills and capacity. Over 200 young people from 20+ countries have joined us so far to learn, grow, and leave their mark.
Logi, mat och transporter
You will be hosted in tents in the volunteering centre's yard; we provide 2 spaces and 3 spaces tents, mattresses, linens and pillows. The centre has functional bathroom and showers, a fully equipped kitchen; drinkable water, electricity and wifi. Also, a cozy room with couches, chairs and board games and a camp fire area. The ESC-allocated amount of food money will be put together for meals. The kitchen team will shop and cook for the group. Your travel arrival and departure are reimbursed by ESC guidelines at the end of your project.
Utbildning under verksamheten
Volunteers will receive onboarding upon arrival to discover the organization, activities implemented, and working methods. They will be instructed and supported throughout their project by the Smokinya Team and by the people they will cooperate with. The Bulgarian National Agency has on arrival and mid-term training once a year, so there is the possibilty during your time, you will attend.
