Green Freaks is an individual volunteering activity hosted in Antonis Tritsis Park and other urban green spaces in Athens. Volunteers will contribute to environmental protection, awareness and education through hands-on activities such as cleaning, tree planting, gardening, and maintenance of public spaces. They will also support educational tours and workshops for schools and community groups, promoting recycling, sustainability, and eco-friendly habits. The activity aims to connect young people with nature, raise public awareness about climate and environmental challenges, and foster community engagement. It empowers participants to adopt and spread sustainable lifestyles while strengthening solidarity and civic participation at local and European levels.
Nastanitev, prehrana in prevoz
KEAN is responsible for fully covering the cost of your accommodation and the travel costs. The volunteer will stay in a shared fully equipped apartment in the center of the city of Athens which meets the required standards of hygiene and safety and has all the necessary equipment (home appliances, furniture, heating, household appliances, sheets, blankets etc.), it provides easy access to the public transportation and has access to the Internet, in order to promote and facilitate the communication of the volunteer with both their family and our organization.
Usposabljanje med dejavnostjo
Volunteers will be trained on environmental protection practices, safety in outdoor activities, and the “do no harm” principle. They will receive guidance in organizing clean-up actions, gardening, and educational workshops, as well as in using non-formal learning tools for environmental awareness. Training will also cover communication skills, teamwork, and event organization. Continuous mentoring, language support, and intercultural learning sessions will ensure a meaningful and safe experience.
Profil udeleženca
Participant will need to be an EU citizen, 18-30 years old. Moreover, they will need to have: - good grasp of English and/or Greek Language -interest in the topics of environmental protection and social challenges -desire to engage in group activities to tackle environmental and social challenges Young people with fewer opportunities (individuals with disabilities, LGBTQI etc.) are strongly encouraged to apply for this activity.
