The volunteer will support ASPEm in activities focused on education, wellbeing and health initiatives for women, in collaboration with the local organization Adelante Mujer, a space that aims to promote women’s economic and emotional autonomy. The activities include: in order to monitor the wellbeing of women beneficiaries, both physical and emotional, and to identify needs and define future actions, maintaining an updated record of the women and their children and conducting interviews to explore issues related to economic dependency, autonomy, health knowledge, education, mental and emotional health, and trust in support programs; delivering workshops or informational sessions, ranging from basic hygiene to disease prevention, among other topics, in collaboration with experts; organization and implementation of workshops that promote women’s economic autonomy and micro-entrepreneurship, such as cooking workshops, handicrafts, or others depending on the volunteer’s specific skills.

The house is in Cochabamba, where ASPEm’s local office is based, a city offering activities, courses, shopping centers and services. It is in a safe area, shared with other volunteers, each person having a private, lockable room. Utilities such as water, gas, electricity and internet are included. The house is in the northern area, close to shops, pharmacies and banks. It has good access to safe and affordable public transportation. Vegetarian/vegan options are limited, but there is more variety available in the city center.

Utbildning under verksamheten

Through hands-on experience, the volunteer will strengthen key competencies in community-based support, feminist facilitation, educational and recreational methodologies and collaboration with local women’s networks. Online meetings with other volunteers involved in the project are planned, as opportunity for training and exchange of experiences, challenges and good practices. They will have access to platforms such as OLS, GOT and SALTO, and will strengthen transversal skills such as autonomy, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving. All will be certified through the Youthpass.

Deltagarens profil

The volunteer sought should combine a strong social vocation, organizational skills, and basic knowledge of human development. They should not only have the desire to help, but also the ability to lead, support, and create a sustainable impact. Empathy, respect, dignified treatment, responsibility, confidentiality, and a strong motivation to connect with each of the women are required. Knowledge in health, nutrition, education, and training is preferred; candidates may come from fields such as social work, psychology, education, or health. The ability to work in a team and to recognize when professional support is needed is also valued. Strong organizational and planning skills are required, along with clear communication, conflict resolution abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with other volunteers. The role requires active listening skills, patience, the ability to motivate women, and adaptability in challenging and changing situations. In terms of practical competencies, the volunteer should be able to coordinate workshops and manage material resources, demonstrating a practical mindset and the ability to organize group activities with available resources. Experience in conducting monitoring activities and interviews is considered an asset. Eligibility : Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
