Beskrivning

Servicio Jesuita para Migrantes Costa Rica (SJM-CR), which supports migrant populations arriving in Costa Rica is seeking support in project management, social and policy advocacy, and training for migrants and refugee population. Main responsibilities:
- Activities in communication, social media management, and other public outreach channels.
- Management and monitoring: support in designing a MEAL system, reviewing logical frameworks, theories of change, operational plans, and drafting project proposals.
- Policy advocacy: developing technical materials (briefs, infographics, position papers) and supporting dialogue with various key stakeholders.
- Training and innovation: facilitating workshops focused on DESCA rights and the use of artificial intelligence tools applied to projects implemented by civil society organisations.
Commitment: 40 hours per week. Work primarily in San José, with the option of 1 day of remote work per internal policy.

Round-trip expenses to and from the country, visa expenses, vaccines, and accommodation maintenance.
Allowance for personal expenses.

Support throughout the volunteering period by the hosting and sending organisation
The accommodation will be located near the organization’s offices in Montes de Oca, a safe residential area close to the campus of the country’s leading university.

Utbildning under verksamheten

- Face-to-face training before volunteering in Bilbao, Spain
- Training programs offered by the host organisation
- European training platforms available to volunteers: OLS (Online Language Support); GOT (General Online Training), SALTO
- During the volunteer experience, participants will develop a range of transferable skills (time management, independence, intercultural awareness and competence, teamwork, active listening and dialogue, a volunteer mindset, problem-solving, advocacy skills, etc.)
- All skills acquired will be certified through the Youth Pass

Deltagarens profil

Preferably a professional or student in Communication, Social Sciences, project management, development cooperation, communication, or related fields (International Relations, International Cooperation, Political Science, Sociology, Migrations, etc.) Candidates from other fields with experience working with migrant and refugee populations or in non-profit organisations will also be considered.
Profile:
- Knowledge of communication, social media management, and other public outreach channels.
- Knowledge of or interest in identifying and approaching potential funding sources to contribute to the organisation’s sustainability.
- Knowledge of or interest in social project management, particularly within nonprofit organisations.
- Knowledge of human mobility, the rights of migrants and refugees, international human rights law, and/or humanitarian law. Familiarity with the migration context in Latin America is a plus.
- Interest or experience in using artificial intelligence tools applied to communication, project management, and institutional strengthening of nonprofit organisations.
- Desirable: a basic level of Spanish sufficient to function independently in daily tasks.

Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training, and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
