Living and working together with adults with intellectual disabilities

Opis
L'Arche Slovenia is looking for 1 volunteer from any European country to join us from September 2026 to September 2027 (ESC funded proejct).
Volunteer will be included in the preparation and execution of different activities, which will include adults with intellectual disabilities, for example:
- Different workshops: arts and crafts, gardening, woodworork, sewing, singing ...
- Physical activities: active holidays, workouts, walking, hiking ...
- Innovative group therapies for different vulnerable groups: art therapy, horseback riding therapy, dog therapy
- Cohabitation with adults with mental disabilities
- Activities for project promotion: website, social media, photography and graphic design, video making, depending on the volunteer’s interests
The volunteers are typically engaged for 30 hours per week. The activities take place in the workshops and in the community houses, both located in Zbilje (small beautiful village near the capital of Ljubljana).
Nastanitev, prehrana in prevoz
Volunteer has their own room in one of our community houses in Zbilje. Kkitchen and the bathroom are shared with another international volunteers, also living in the house.
All costs (accommodation, bills, food, transport to and back from Slovenia, local transport are covered by the program). The volunteer will also receive pocket money (around 150 euros per month).
Usposabljanje med dejavnostjo
Volunteer will attend pre-arrival preparation meetings which will be organized by the sending organization,
In Slovenia, volunteer will attend on-arrival and mid-term training organized by the Slovenian national agency (MOVIT).
Our organisation will also organise on arrival and mid-term workshop.
Profil udeleženca
For the ESC project we will welcome 1 volunteer, who will meet the following conditions:
- Age between 18 and 30 years
- A wish to work with adults with mental disabilities and other vulnerable groups
- A basic knowledge of Slovene, Croatian OR English language
The volunteers' qualities that we look for are:
- A positive work attitude
- Willingness to learn new things
