Opis

At the ijgd national office, we work together with the teams of the regional associations to organise international workcamps in Germany and create opportunities for young people to take part in workcamps outside Germany. Our workcamps in both Germany and over 50 other countries give young people the chance to live and work with people from all over the globe, to support a project for two to four weeks. You would mainly work in our office and help to prepare, organise and evaluate the workcamp season. You will also be able to participate in workcamps and trainings and lead your own international workcamp in Germany. Every year we organise between 50 and 60 work camps in Germany. Our target group is young people between the ages of 14 and 26.

We want to use the workcamps to promote civic engagement among young people and to support charitable projects in the local community. 

Nastanitev, prehrana in prevoz

Accomodation: you will stay in a shared house in Hildesheim or Hanover, where you will have access to internet, a shared bathroom and kitchen. You will have your own room.

Food: you will receive the official amount for food (345 €) per month and also a monthly pocket money (210€).

Transport arrangements: we will provide you with a bike and a monthly public transport pass, if necessary.

 

Usposabljanje med dejavnostjo

You will have many opportunities to learn with us! You will attend two mandatory seminars in different German cities, where you can reflect on your learning progress and meet other volunteers like you.

You can improve your language skills thanks to a language course that we will provide. We will also offer you trainings before, during and after your project.

You’ll have the chance to take part in one of our training seminars for workcamp group leadership and lead one or two workcamps yourself.

In addition, during your stay with us, we will organise regular reflection meetings.

Profil udeleženca

A big component of our work is the contact with the young people in our camps and in our team. At the same time, a large part of our daily routine also involves necessary “boring” office tasks — like working with databases, writing emails, preparing Excel lists or creating Word templates. Therefore, we are looking for someone who enjoys both — engaging with people and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. It’s a great support if you are good at social media and have creative ideas for content.

Being open and inviting, interested in the topics of the association, and willing to approach other people and situations with courage will make your start with us easier. We do not expect any special educational qualifications. An interest in international youth work and perhaps some experience in voluntary work are helpful.

Of course, you will not be able to communicate perfectly in German from the beginning, but we believe there are many ways to communicate beyond language.

The most important aspect for us is that you want to be part of our team for the duration of the service and that you want to support the values of ijgd. We are happy if you bring your own interests and skills into our team.
