Vesilahti, Finland

Beskrivning

The project is run by Kurki Ecovillage Association. The main goals are to encourage sustainable and eco-friendly practices, create a diverse and multicultural environment, support youngsters with fewer opportunities, promote tolerance and solidarity. The work tasks include helping to run sustainability center, hosting visitors, taking care of the biodiversity garden, forest garden and other demonstration gardens, assisting in building tasks, planning and cooking community lunches, caretaker tasks (heating sauna, compost and dry-toilets maintenance, etc), seasonal work (picking berries, mushrooms...), collaborating with local schools, youth centers and solidarity organizations, helping organize cultural events, etc. This project is a great chance to get to know a new culture, be in contact with nature, make meaningful connections, implement your own ideas and projects, take time to reflect on the world and yourself, get out of your comfort zone and experience new adventures! :)

Logi, mat och transporter

Our volunteers live together, sharing a house, beds divided with furnitures and/or curtains. There is a kitchen, a living room and dry toilets(indoors and outdoors). Our sustainability center downstairs is also for their use at the day time when the house is free for everyone’s use. In our sauna building volunteers have good place to wash clothes and themselves. Shared community lunch on some of the working days. Food allowance is given for other meals. There are bicycles available for the volunteers. Transportation is offered when it is part of the work tasks. The bus connection to Tampere.
