Volunteering Teams with the Portuguese Red Cross

Beskrivelse

The Local Branch Office is located at Vila de Cucujães, a rural village belonging to the Municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis. At the moment, the Local Branch offers services in three main areas:

• Social Assistance & access to Welfare Services
• Emergency & First Aid
• Youth & Volunteering

We are looking for young people who are in it for the experience and open minded to try everything. The participants will both facilitate workshops/ sessions with kids about the topic of disaster preparedness (we will provide training to volunteers on this topic) and also be ready to assist with maintenance or cleaning works at the Red Cross or local partner Organization's facilities.

Logi, mad og transport

Volunteers will receive pocket money of 6€ and food allowance of 5€ (this amount is per day, including weekends).

All volunteers share an apartment equipped with basic appliances, furniture, hairdryer, towels & bed linen, water, gas, electricity and Wi-Fi. Bedrooms and bathrooms are shared. Each bedroom will be allocated to 2 or 3 volunteers.

Travel budget will be covered based on the designated distance calculator for ESC activities from their residence locations to Oliveira de Azeméis and amounts are as follows:

500 - 1999 km: 309 eur 

2000 - 2999 km: 395 eur 

 

 

Oplæring under aktiviteten

Deltagerens profil

• Volunteers will have to be 18-30 years old and be genuinely interested in the project
• Practical, “hands on” people who like to get their “hands dirty” and helping in what is needed
• Open minded and adaptable to a new context (languages, cultures, different accommodation and amenities, ways of working) and the challenging surroundings
• Ready to work in a team and to share the daily life with people from different backgrounds
• Communication skills in ENGLISH language; it would be desirable to have some level of Portuguese language proficiency or the willingness to learn it (but not mandatory)
• Previous experience is not necessary
