Volunteers for community Montessori school ZaHRAda

Opis činnosti

We are a community primary school founded by parents. We are inspired by Montessori principles. We teach children to see the world in a wider picture – and a foreigner volunteer can contribute to this. Our main goal of volunteer’s engagement is to benefit from the continuous presence of a non-Czech speaker which should encourage the motivation of the children to learn English and other languages and get a wider world perspective. Actually, we are looking for two volunteer to join our team in a class with children from 9-12 years old and 12-15 years old. Volunteer will be present at school during the morning programs (including expeditions) and assist the teachers. If s/he has more experience, s/he can try own lessons, especially in foreign language classes. During the afternoon club (where is more time for leisure activities – sports, crafts, games…) s/he can be very active and offer children activities according to her/his hobbies and interests.

Ubytovanie, strava a doprava

The volunteer will have a bedroom in a house in town center of Tišnov (sometimes shared bigger bedroom). This house will be shared with other volunteers, together they will use the kitchen and bathroom. Good internet connection is provided. Meals will either be prepared at school with children or the volunteer will bring her/his meal. The meal in the morning, in the evening and during weekends will be arreged by the volunteer. Since Tišnov is a small town, it is easy to pass in on foot. If the volunteer shows interest, a bicycle can be provided. There is good train connection to Brno.

Odborná príprava počas činnosti

The volunteer will be offered Czech lessons with an experienced lector. Of course he/she can join all the training and seminars connected to the ESC programme. Also if they are interested, they can visit training, short time courses and seminars with other members of the school staff. During the stay at the school they will improve their communication, teaching and language skills a lot. They will experience many different games and teaching methods, montessori pedagogical approaches and will be able to make their own opinion about the so-called innovative learning.

Profil účastníka

We have a very good and wide experience with volunteers, and we are really looking forward to welcoming new, active, interesting colleagues with a real interest in children´s education. We prefer volunteers who have (and wants to gain new) experience in work with school aged children. We do not require any specific education – just be open-minded, playful, initiative, with good sense of humour and good level of spoken English. In case there are more applicants with similar profile we prefer a person who can stay for a longer time, best option would be the whole year.
