Volunteers can participate in all activities at the position of teacher's assistant, they can prepare their own activities based on their field of interest. They are a proper member of the Jasan team and we try to involve them in all events and activities as much as we can. Jasan! School grew from a small community of home schooled children and their parents. We joined the School ZaHRAda as we shared the same values and principles. Now, we run one class of this school in a small town Nedvědice. There are 25 pupils (6-11 years old), two guides (teachers) and one assistant in the class. In the afternoon children can participate in the afternoon club. More info you find: https://www.skolajasan.cz/. Montessori School ZaHRAda is a primary school founded also by parents (associated in the NGO Hnízdo) in 2015. It is situated in Tišnov and provide education for almost 120 pupils in 5 mixed age classes. Other volunteers from the project and the main coordinator live in Tišnov.
Ubytování, stravování, doprava
The volunteer will have his/her place in the building of the school in Nedvědice. This flat is shared with another volunteer, together they use kitchen and bathroom. Volunteers arrange their meals by their own. There are restaurants and a small shop in Nedvědice. Since Tišnov and Nedvědice are small towns (ar.10000 and 1500 inhab), it is easy to pass in on foot. If interested, bicycle can be provided. There is a train station and a bus stop near the accommodation that goes to Tišnov (25 min) and Brno (aprox. 1 h). The cost of an accommodation, food, transport and pocket money are covered
Odborná příprava během činnosti
The main training will be directly during the stay in Montessori school, also during their expeditions around Nedvedice, Tisnov and over South Moravia and Vysocina mountains. The volunteers will improve teaching skills (formal and non-formal), language and social skills. The volunteers will be offered Czech lessons. They of course go to the on-arrival and mid-term trainings too. If they are interested, they can visit trainings, shorttime courses, seminars offered to other employees of the school staff or visit other alternative schools and kindergartens associated with Hnízdo.
Profil účastníka
What we value most is a positive attitude towards children and the ability to build relationships with them. The volunteer should also have experience in work with children, an appropriate physical condition (the job involves outdoor physical activities during all seasons) and good stress resistance (working with children can be a mental strain). Open-mindedness, work independence, flexibility, playfulness and sense of humour are appreciated as well as a certain level of English. We prefer experience with various educational approaches, including work with children with learning and behavioural disorders and courage to realize their own project. We do not require any specific education.
