Dům dětí a mládeže, Rychnov nad Kněžnou (in text DDM) is an organization which offers free time activities and nonformal education for children, young people, and adults. The goal of our DDM is to provide a variety of non-formal learning and leisure time activities for children, youth, and adults. Throughout the school year, our DDM offers more than 100 hobby groups focused on different interests like dancing, arts and crafts, animals, nature, sports, outdoor activities, music, technical activities, photography, and many more. Hobby groups are suitable for preschoolers, young learners, students, and adults. We also organize big events for local communities, non-formal and intergenerational meetings. During summer holidays DDM prepares and organizes summer camps for children and young people focused on different themes and interests. Throughout the year we organize large cultural or sports activities and cultural events for the community of our region - for example, Hurá do Déčka, dancing competitions Devils´ day, Witches´ day, and activities commemorating Earth day, amongst others. Every year we organise many regional competitions in cooperation with schools. We prepare more than 30 competitions focused on various knowledge tasks, skills and sports. On weekends the public can participate in various open activities like workshops, sports activities, competitions, and celebrations. Also, in winter we offer skiing lessons on weekends as well as different kinds of courses (for example, in painting, arts and crafts, etc.). We also offer different kinds of formal education for young people and adults, like first aid, pedagogical minimum, GDPR, and safety at work with children. There is also the possibility to visit the mini zoo, which is open all school year long. The main goal of DDM isn´t to get the highest numbers but to teach and develop the key competencies like balanced knowledge, responsibility, abilities, attitudes and values, important for the personal development and application of each member of society. In our DDM we use volunteering as a form of inclusion in our teaching and learning process, which allows a much better and deeper connection with the interest of the participant in a particular hobby group, which in turns allows better communication between the student and the lektor, teacher, or leading pedagogu. This way our participants and local volunteers recognize their own strengths and weaknesses and from there on they can work on self-development and improvement. The goal of interest education in DDM is satisfied and happy participant, who acquired new knowledge during the activities which brought him emotional, social and ethical development. Our DDM considers everyone as a potential participant in our activities. Our target groups are: * preschoolers (3-6 y.o) * pupils (6-15 y.o) * students and young people (16-26 y.o) * disabled children and young people * adults * seniors * pregnant women and mothers on maternity leave * parents with children * teachers * non-profit organizations * DDM´s external leaders, volunteers and volunteers from abroad Through the school year our DDM offers more than 100 hobby groups with participation of around 1200, more than 350 activities for the public (Children´s day, Carnival, Witches day, Devil´s day, Fairs, dance competitions,...) with participation of around 15 thousand, 20 summer camps (around 600 participants).
