On the instruction of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who was educated with the consciousness that the Republic of Turkey had to take the light from the youth on the way of illumination, projects were taken from leading architects of the time for Gazi University, which was founded in 1926. The project of Architect Kemaleddin, one of the forerunners of "First National Architecture Movement", was found successful in the contest and in a short time a magnificent structure was established in the center of Ankara and this structure were opened as "Middle School Martial and Training Institute". Middle School Martial and Training Institute which is now used as the Rectorship Center of the Gazi University was changed to "Gazi Secondary School and Education Institute" in 1929 and served with this name for many years. The Institute, which was called "Gazi Education Institute" after the name change in 1976, got the "Gazi University" identity in 1982 with the number 2809 law. Ankara High Technical Teacher and Ankara Girls Technical Higher Teacher Schools and Ankara Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences played a major role in the tradition that constituted the basis of Gazi University as well as Gazi Education. These numbers have increased rapidly every year at the university, which has 9 faculties, 12 colleges, and 4 institutes. Today, Gazi University is continuing its claim to be one of the best higher education institutions that takes its name from Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with its 20 faculties, 3 colleges, 1 Turkish Music Conservatory, 6 vocational colleges, 55 research centers and 7 institutes. Gazi University gives education in a wide range of fields such as Education, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Sciences, Science, Engineering, Architecture, Technology, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Communication, Literature, Law, Fine Arts, Art and Design, Tourism, Sports Sciences, Banking, and Insurance. Gazi University, which provides education for 79 thousand 434 students from all over the country, is the university that accepts most of the students from abroad with 2 thousand 54 foreign students from Turkic Republics, Caucasus, Europe, Middle East, Africa, America and Far East countries. There are 26 thousand 567 students attending the graduate and doctorate programs of Gazi University. The university is an international higher education institution that meets the needs of its teaching staff and meets the needs of the teaching staff of other universities. As a city university located in the center of Ankara, Gazi University also has campuses in Besevler, Emek, Maltepe, Gölbaşı, Çankaya, Ostim, Polatlı and Kahramankazan besides the central campus where the faculties and schools are located. With 81 thousand 488 students and 3 thousand 736 teaching staff, Gazi University is a university that has achieved world standards in terms of number of teaching staff per student. Gazi University, which has played an important role in the development of Turkey with its academic and technological achievement, has proved its success in education both nationally and internationally. Located in the top 500 of the best universities in the world, Gazi University continues its education with its principle " Being the member of Gazi University is a privilege".Gazi University has an independent unit which was established in 2010 and called Project Coordination, Implementation and Research Center. The Center gives an invaluable advantage to 6 full-time staff to Gazi University for creating new projects, partnerships, and project management. Purpose of the Center is executing and helping to the management of projects which are supporting by external(national or international) authorities/funds. The bidding for international technical support is also executed by the Center. It gives consultation and coordination services in collaboration with the academic and administrative departments of the university and executes the activities like preinterview for mutual agreements with the representatives from EU members and non-member countries.
