Beskrivelse af organisationen

Anffas Cremona Onlus is a volunteering organization founded in Cremona in 1966 and aims to ensure the well-being and protection of people with intellectual/relational disabilities and their families, working mainly to make the principles of equal opportunity and non-discrimination and social inclusion. Anffas Cremona Onlus has been receiving European volunteers since 2010.
The association is part of the network "Anffas" which includes local associations throughout Italy belonging to the network. The association's working method reflects "the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities" for ensuring full respect for human rights and all fundamental freedoms. Anffas Cremona Onlus: - Promotes and protects the rights of intellectual and relational disabled people and their families - Works to develop the principles of equal opportunities and non-discrimination of intellectual and relational disabled people and those who protect their rights - It is against any ethical, religious, legal or regulatory principle that can reduce or eliminate the freedom and rights of disabled people and their families. The association wants to develop its European dimension and spread among youth the European culture; it also wants to stimulate openness to an intercultural dimension and the development of the sense of tolerance and acceptance of diversity and other cultures.
Anffas also wants to raise awareness among society about disability issues and to promote the rights of people with disabilities, especially young people and their families.
Some of the activities which are developed could be divided into:
-Activities in defense of the rights of people with disabilities and their families (information campaigns, actions to promote the culture of disability, networking activities with other associations that deal with the defense of the rights....)
-Support and listening activities (SAI-Spazio Amico), aimed at people with disabilities and their families (e.g. individual and group interviews with reception volunteers, psychologist, social worker; support in the preparation of documents, etc...)
-Recreational activities and leisure aimed at people with disabilities such as: wood workshop, tailoring, creation laboratory.
- Activities concerning the active and occupational inclusion of people with disabilities in contexts of high social relevance of the city. E.g. Project Book Box: is a project of experimentation and social inclusion that aims to promote real participation in the community to people suffering from autism spectrum disorders (asd) and intellectual disability. It is proposed to build small libraries in waiting rooms used by children, teenagers and adults (medical, dental, pediatric, clinics, hospitals and/or other commercial activities where there is a waiting point). The care, periodic update and distribution of volumes is entrusted to people with autism spectrum disorders and/or intellectual disabilities followed and accompanied by experienced and volunteer educators.
- Activities concerning accessibility and language easy to read – Anffas Cremona has been working for some years on the theme of accessibility of information and culture for all. The aim is to apply easy to read techniques in public and private areas to give clear and accessible information for communication to citizens. The easy to read language is the simplification of concepts or words in order to be understood by everyone. And it is promoted in the European framework by "Inclusion Europe". The highly innovative element of the project is the active involvement of people with intellectual disabilities, who take the role of an operator and test reader and participate in the whole process of making the text.
At the national level, the Anffas Associations, through Anffas Onlus, are part of "Inclusion Europe" a network of associations of families of people with disabilities that works at European level to spread the culture of the disability and free access to information for all.
In 2018 Anffas Cremona Onlus set up the Ventaglio Blu Social Cooperative of which it is a supervisor member, with which it shares projects and premises (headquarter, etc.) The cooperative wants, through the promotion, participation and/or establishment of suitable management entities and services, to respond to the needs of people with disabilities, especially people with intellectual and/or relational disabilities and their families. Anffas and Ventaglio Blue have several open and shared conventions for managing specific tasks and services. The association with its activities is aimed at: people with disabilities, families, young people, volunteers and citizens.
