Das ElisabethenHeim im Zentrum von Würzburg arbeitet unter dem Motto "Alle unter einem Dach". Hier leben und arbeiten mehrere Generationen zusammen. Mit rund 300 Kindern und 40 Senioren ist das Haus eine Begegnungstätte für Alt und Jung. In der Einrichtung befinden sich Kinderkrippe, Kindergarten, Vorschulgruppe, Schule, Hort, Internat und Alten- und Pflegeheim. Die Freiwilligen im Rahmen des ESC
werden im Kindergarten und in der Krippe aufgenommen. Das pädagogisches Konzept basiert auf dem lebensbezogenen Ansatz und ist von christlichen Wertvorstellungen geprägt. Die Basis bietet ein tolerantes und offenes Miteinander, wo auch andere Konfessionen und Menschen mit Behinderte Raum, Achtung und Wertschätzung finden. Der Lebensbezogene Ansatz ist ein Bildungsansatz der Frühpädagogik, in dessen Zentrum das Leben und Lernen des Kindes steht. Das bedeutet, dass durch die wertebezogenen Erziehungs- und Bildungsziele das Kind zu folgenden Einstellungen für sein gegenwärtiges und zukünftiges Leben gelangt: Weltbürgerlichkeit (Erde und Welt gehören allen), Natur- und Umweltbewusstsein (Natur und Umwelt schätzen und schützen = ökologische Erziehung), Friedensfähigkeit (erfreuliche Beziehungen und Versöhnt sein gegenüber anderen), Sicht für das Ganze , Erleben in der Wirklichkeit (kein übertriebener Medieneinsatz).
Das Kind ganzheitlich zu sehen, steht an oberster Stelle im ElisabethenHeim Kindergarten, sowie auch in der Krippe. Sie wollen die Kinder erreichen, begleiten und bilden. Diese Ziele sind nur unter der Berücksichtigung von Herz, Kopf und Hand zu erreichen. Das Herz steht dabei für Gefühl und Empfinden, der Kopf für Wissen und Denken, und die Hand für Aktion und Handeln.
Sie bieten den Kindern verschiedenste Erfahrungsbereiche um sich entfalten und entwickeln zu können. Dies geschieht je nach Fähigkeiten und Entwicklungsstand des Kindes im Einklang mit der Gruppe.
