New Humanity International Association" is a Non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1986 and active in more than 100 Countries around the world.
Its main aim is to contribute to the creation of unity in the human family, fully respecting the individuals identities of all of its members; for this reason it spreads the idea of a united world promoting the universal spirit of fraternity, as proclaimed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (article n. 1), as a dynamic factor in social cohesion.
The Association involves all levels of society through the realization of cultural events, social projects, educational projects, economic initiatives, etc. combining local and global dimension.
At this regard, New Humanity connects informal international networks of professionals, operators, young people, students, citizens engaged in specific fields such as media and ICT, (www.netone.org ), law (comunionediritto.org/it/ ), politics (www.mppu.org/it/), economics (www.edc-online.org/ ), education (http://www.eduforunity.org/ ), environment (http: / /www.ecoone.org/ ),arte(http://www.clarte.org/ ),sport (http://www.sportmeet.org/ ).
It owns the general advisory status at UN Economic and Social Council and is an official partner of UNESCO for peace education. Main target groups are young people, social workers, educators, associations staff. It inspires its action to the ideals of the Focolare Movement and represents it at international level. It has a staff of 8 people, who do their work voluntarily and 2 part-time employees, and can count on extensive voluntary collaboration. Young people are strongly and actively involved in its action and in its structures through the two sections: Youth for a United World and Youth for Unity.
New Humanity headquarter is based in Rome while its main delegations are based in New York, Geneva and Paris.
It is also member of other relevant international platforms such as the Catholic-inspired NGOs Forum (CINGO) in Geneva and the NGOs-UNESCO Liaison Commitee.
REGULAR ACTIVITIES AT UN LEVEL:
- Member of the Working Group about the "right to international solidarity"
- Member of the working group about the "right to development"
- offers interships to young people with a background in human rights, international relations, law
- organizes seminars and side-events about civil life, global citizenship, ecology, migration and refugees, inter-religious dialogue and Peace Education
REGULAR YOUTH ORIENTED ACTIVITIES AT GRASSROOTS LEVEL
- Organization of workshops, seminars and courses combining high level speakers with non-formal methodology to stimulate creativity and social commitment of young people. Every year around 15 initiatives are carried out with different durations according to the type (from 2 days to 6-months courses )
- Activities to create on a wider scale a public opinion open to the idea of the united world, the culture of respect and peace in collaboration with associations and public bodies all over the world (United World Week, 1 st May meeting)
- Actions, solidarity and fund-raising campaigns for countries facing situations of humanitarian and / or conflict emergency,
- United World Project www.unitedworldproject.org that promotes a culture of inclusion and fraternity by documenting and developing the so-called "Fragments of Fraternity": social activities in favor of disadvantaged sections of society (poor, street children, prisoners, homeless, immigrants, abandoned elderly, refugees)
- Public shows, film forums, exhibitions, sports competitions, concerts, etc. like Run4unity, or Team4peace
- International site management, blogs and social networks, work and use of IT tools and new technologies, audiovisual production, etc.
- Organization of large-scale events worldwide (every three years).
- Production of dissemination tools addressed to young people such as the monthly BIG and Teens magazines, managed by youngsters themselves to spread the culture of fraternity as a lifestyle for their peers.
RECENT PROJECTS
- Breaking Rays, young reporters for change: training courses for young people about video making and news reporting; participating countries: (BR, IT, IN, PH, ID, AR, KE, DE, PT)
- NEST : course about EU project managament for EU partner NGOs
- HOST SPOT: a project to create a shared social campaign about refugees and migrations made by EU and Middle East Countries
- GENFEST (July 2018, Philippines) a worldwide gathering of young people to celebrate diversity and share best practices about intercultural dialogue and peace promotion
- BACK TO AFRICA: training courses about political partecipation and enterpreneurship for young africans who graduated in Europe and decide to come back to their countries to contribute to their social development
