Beskrivning av organisationen

The Tavira Humanitarian Center, as a local structure, is faithful to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, independence, neutrality, unity, universality and voluntary service in which the scope of this project is sustained.
The main goal of Tavira’s Humanitarian Center is to provide humanitarian and social assistance, especially to the most vulnerable. Therefore, in order to meet this objective, we have developed several social responses directed to each area of intervention: childhood and youth, health and social support. This scope of intervention extends to the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Tavira e Vila Real de Santo António.
In the area of childhood and youth we have two kindergartens and a temporary shelter home for children and young people.
In the health area we have two Integrated Continuous Care Units that aim to provide continuous integrated care to people who, regardless of age, are in a situation of dependency. In addition, we have a Clinic of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a Relief Unit, which provide daily support to our population.
Regarding the social support scope we have an integrated domiciliary and home support service, as well as a social canteen, and social care and support to the families who need it.
All these social responses have protocols with the Institute of Social Security and Regional Health Administration of the Algarve.
Given that Tavira’s Humanitarian Centre contemplates different areas of intervention, resulting from the diversity of its constituencies, the focus of the volunteer service can also be directed according to the volunteer’s area of interest.
