Beskrivelse af organisationen

The Youth Area of the Municipality of Milan is active for several years now in the field of youth policies. Our activity is mainly organised into two strands. First of all, the management of a youth information center, the Informagiovani; secondly, the implementation of projects which, at the local level, could offer to youngsters [in particular the so-called "NEET"] opportunities for training and personal growth, development of active citizenship and help against social exclusion.
Our target group consists of young people aged 18 to 30 years. Among our users there is a large percentage of non-EU citizens, many of them with status of refugees seeking political asylum.
The aim of the Informagiovani is to provide complete information to young people about the opportunities available at a local level in the field of study, work and volunteering.
Information is provided in various ways. First of all through contact activity by the information point, where young users can have a dedicated interview with an operator, as well as access to constantly updated information material.
Another information channel is our internet portal and the facebook, instagram and twitter accounts, as well as a monthly newsletter sent to a directory of thousands contacts.
For several years the Informagiovani is a local point in the Eurodesk network. As such we provide support to youngsters who want to apply for mobility projects funded by the European Union. We also made events and informative sessions in schools in order to spread between students the knowledge about Eu and programs for youth mobility supported and funded by European Union.
In the last two years, the Youth Area has promoted a call for proposals to activate a network of collaboration with various stakeholders in the Milan area in order to carry out different activities in our space in Via Dogana 2, such as events, workshops, specialized branches always with the view to provide an increasingly accurate service to our users.
Young boys and girls can now choose within an articulated schedule of activities suitable to their needs and interests.
The Youth area of the Municipality of Milan has been also the leading proponent of the "MIGenerationLab" [2015/16] and "Restart" [2017] projects with the aim to propose innovative training courses to young NEET of the city, besides the aim of enhancing the protagonism of the youth population as a resource for the development of the territory, introducing and experimenting less conventional models of active learning and foster the integration of young people with fewer opportunities and/or coming from non-European countries.
