The Environmental Education Centre - Středisko ekologické výchovy SEVER Horní Maršov o.p.s.
(later in this document as SEVER) was founded in 2012 and it continues and builds on activities of its
only founder Středisko ekologické výchovy a etiky Rýchory – SEVER (later in this document as
„parent organization“ and it has new name nowadays: Středisko ekologické výchovy SEVER,
Základní článek Hnutí Brontosaurus-It has it´s own legal subjectivity nowadays). The parent organization works in the field of practical
environmental education and raising public environmental awareness for over 20 years (from year
1994). Both organizations work in very close collaboration, carry out similar activities and have the
same mission, which is to strive through education for deepening the responsible treatment of nature
and Earth as well as of other people and thus aim to sustainable life on Earth. Over a long period, we
focuse on educating children, teaching staff, we organize educational events for the public. We offer
short-term and long-term educational programmes for pupils and courses, seminars and
consultations for teaching staff. SEVER has been organizing regional conferences for coordinators of
environmental education in the Hradec Kralove and Usti region for 16 years. SEVER is member of
Association of EE Centers Pavučina, Association of Environmental Consultancies STEP, Association
of Environmental NGOs Green Circle, Czech Forum for Development Cooperation FORS and
Brontosaurus Movement.
Our aim is to introduce the volunteer/employee environmental ideas in the wider context – employee will be involved in preparation and realization of ecological programmes and public events, volunteer will help with running our environmentally friendly house and garden, preparing interactive exhibitions, helping lectures with realization of enviromental program for school groups. For both there will be some irregular activities such as preparing and organizing interactive exhibitions, camps for children or participating at a workcamp.
If We have one volunteer/employee he/she will be accomodated right in the residence of DOTEK (Tradition, Outdoors and Culture House). If we have two volunteers/employees We will find them suitable accomodation in a flat in Horní Maršov or Svoboda nad Úpou (maximally 2.5 km from DOTEK, where They will work). They will have their own room and shared kitchen and bathroom. The volunteers can cook for themselves or order meals (lunch and dinner) in our facility. DOTEK is located in a small village Horní Maršov located at the border of the National Krkonoše Park. The project is suitable for volunteers interested in informal education of children and the youth, environmentally friendly ways of life and nature conservation. The volunteer and employee should be motivated to do these activities, should not mind spending a lot of time outdoors (in any weather conditions), should be flexible, creative and able to cooperate as a team members. We prefer that he/she has at least basic knowledge of English or German or Czech language. The most suitable candidates will be chosen according to the sent CVs and motivation letters and will be asked to do a Skype interview with us.
Our organisation has a lot of experience with international projects and some of our employees participated in EVS, too. We cooperate with Czech volunteers and several times we hosted international volunteers at workcamps.
