Love and Care for People (LCP) is the only young migrant led charitable organization (CHY1: 20204558 ) which raises awareness and educates about social exclusion, neglect, and hardship with a purpose to reduce and prevent it. Love and Care for People have been engaged in doing this for over 13 years. LCP also supports the long-term unemployed to redevelop their confidence and use their skills to fulfill their goals and ambitions. Since inception, we have touched over 1500 lives in Cork city and county including young of migrants with origins such as those from Pakistan, Syria, India, Kosovo, Albania, Russia, Nigeria, Congo, Malaysia, Philippines etc and our audience is still growing.
We were awarded the 2018 Coca-Cola People Choice Award and received the Department of Justice Certificate of appreciation for our works which promote integration and cultural diversity in Cork.
Our services include capacity building projects, personal development programmers, education, and training, skills acquisition, employment service initiatives, information, emotional and social support, language support, volunteering among other such actions to children, young people and women from different cultures and nationalities who are survivors, affected or at risk of abuse, poverty and other social exclusion.
We connect victims, survivors, the socially excluded and those at risk of family violence and financial instability in a nurturing environment and we provide access to life-changing opportunities that will support them to empower themselves, heal, take ownership, and ultimately transform their lives.
Our main target audience are children, young people, women living in Cork including those of migrant origin and those of fewer opportunities living in isolated rural community. Our regular activities give our target audience a safe space to share their concerns, build friendships as well as develop skills for leadership through non formal education.
We have applied with the National Youth Council of Ireland and currently waiting to become their members. We have also engaged and partnered with local youth groups and organisations. From 2018 to present, we were able to have 4 KA1 Erasmus+ projects approved, and we also hosted two youth exchange in Ireland and two in Georgia and Armenia. We have so many international organisations who network with us. Our organisation has given over 40 young people including those of migrant origin the opportunity to meet other EU young people, to learn, interact, travel and integrate into their European Identity at no extra costs to them through the Erasmus+. We are in compliance with Governance code and are member of Dóchas (Irish Association of Non-Governmental Development Organisations.)
LCP set up a youth club, named YouthsRule in 2013. YouthsRule is a friendly, safe and inclusive club for young people aged 8 years to 21 years. YouthsRule provides a space for young people (including under-served youths, youths with fewer opportunities, migrants, refuges, asylum seekers, and youths from disadvantaged families) to meet, make friends, develop life skills, strengthen their capacity as decision makers, develop good quality relationships with themselves and each other and most importantly have fun while doing it. The club also raises awareness of European and active citizenship and promotes international youth cooperation.
