Tausche Bildung für Wohnen („Exchange Education for Housing“) is an initiative aiming for more equal opportunities for people living in disadvantaged urban districts. Our vision is the transformation towards a society that secures access to high-quality education for each and every child in order to become a self-determined, socially just, ecologically responsible and economically successfull human being, that ultimately contributes to the sustainable development of our planet. On a larger scale we want to bring forward a society that is marked by a peaceful coexistence of people, who respect and learn from each other and shape their environment commonly.
We target young people who become mentors for children in disadvantaged districts, and in return live rent-free in our shared apartments. This creates a win-win-win situation for children, mentors and districts – and thus a long-term perspective for the region.
Our mission is to create spaces for people of different ages, gender, level of education, origin, religion, economic background and social position to enable mutual education through inspiring encounters. The urban districts become the creative playground for everyone involved, so that everyone learns from everyone.
As a non-profit association, Tausche Bildung für Wohnen sees itself as Social Enterprise that has set itself the goal of a sustainable business model and to strive for nationwide scaling at the same time. The company's success is primarily based on the social benefit and its positive effects instead mere financial gains.
