Plungė Open Youth Center (PAJC) is a non-profit public legal entity with limited civil liability established by Plungė district municipality, the purpose of which is to provide young people (14-29 years old) with less opportunities or regardless of their social situation to provide social, safe employment and services that meet the needs of a young person. The main activity is open youth work.
The main mission of the Centre is to empower young people aged 14-29 by providing a safe space, a friendly and supportive community and conditions to enable themselves through creative activities, volunteering and other non-formal education activities. Young people in a safe and open environment of the PAJC, after testing activities, developing skills, apply them outside the center. Young people recognize that visiting the center, participating in activities and communicating and consulting with the staff of the Open Youth Centre promotes significant positive changes in their lives by acquiring knowledge and understanding of their personal characteristics and skills; young people gain more courage and confidence to talk about: their various personal problems, harmful habits, negative radical actions, behaviors and lifestyles that are unacceptable to society. Young people, together with the escort and assistance of staff, make decisions that help solve their problems. Young people change their harmful habits, behaviors that are unacceptable to society, changing them to positive new hobbies, activities or habits; gain more confidence in the community, state institutions, make new friends. Young people have the conditions and implement their personal positive ambitions and initiatives.
