UVSAR is a non-governmental organisation from Galați, Romania, whose core mission is saving lives and strengthening community resilience. We develop international cooperation in emergencies, train volunteers and communities in first aid and disaster response, and provide rapid humanitarian and pre-medical support when crises occur. Our ESC focus is disaster awareness: youth-led preparedness, risk education, climate-related resilience and post-disaster recovery activities for the public.
Main activities. Training and drills (3,000+ people trained); a 24/7 pre-medical first-aid point with “Dunărea de Jos” University; eAjutor home-care and tele-assistance for vulnerable people; awareness campaigns, and simulations with local/international partners (e.g., IDERN). Our field experience from missions in Ukraine and 2023 Türkiye earthquakes (22 people evacuated with partners) informs evidence-based training and community programmes.
Target groups – beneficiaries. Disaster-affected or at-risk residents (including elderly and people with limited access to services); students, educators and local institutions needing first-aid and preparedness skills; public-event audiences reached through drills and campaigns.
ESC volunteers hosted. Aged 18–30, integrated through induction, ongoing mentoring and supervised tasks such as workshops, campaigns, preparedness demonstrations, simulations and logistics for first-aid posts at public events—helping raise awareness and build local resilience.
