Beskrivning av organisationen

The purpose of the association is to promote art and culture and to make the depot a place of encounter in the district. The depot is located in Dortmund's Nordstadt (harbor district), a district in particular need of renewal. We see ourselves as an independent socio-cultural center that has set itself the following tasks: - Creating opportunities for presentation and participation for artists based at the Depot and external artists. - Networking artists and cultural creators with each other. - Promoting young artists and enabling them to connect with the center. - Opening up spaces for discourse on current political and social issues. - Offering opportunities for participation. - Connecting artists, the neighborhood, and urban society. - Anchoring cultural offerings in the harbor district that also include low-threshold and inclusive access. In our production, we focus on visual arts, contemporary photography, urban art, and interdisciplinary projects and events that take place both in the building itself and in the neighborhood (urban space). We concentrate on exhibitions, including educational and supporting programs, residencies, workshops, lectures, panel discussions, space- and theme-related formats (with a special focus on social and ecological sustainability). Third-party organizers play a significant role in shaping the profile of the Depot. The Depot is open to all residents of the city and the surrounding area.
