Beskrivning av organisationen

Our organization is called The House of Children and Youth and was established in 1970s. It is focused on youth work.
We want to improve children´s and youth´s interest in anything through our programmes.
We are located in South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice, which is a statutory city. The city is the biggest city in South
Bohemia and it has more than 100.000 inhabitants.
The House of Children and Youth is a school facility for leisure education. It provides educational and interest-oriented
educational activities for pupils, students and educational staff, and possibly other persons, including an open offer of
occasional activities. Furthermore, the House of Children and Youth organizes competitions and shows of children and
youth announced by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and work with talented and gifted children and youth.
The organization is divided into 8 departments – science, sport, music, art, education, technical, dance and club activities.
The main providers of activities are hobby groups and educational courses, occasional events, open workshops, camps
and holiday events, educational programs, competitions, etc.
We offer around 200 leisure activities for children and youth (from 5 to 16 years old). Every department provides many
activities for children and youth. The biggest department is Sport department. It has more than 50 leisure activities. The
programmes run through the school year (from September to June). Usually the activity has regular schedule – once or
twice per week and one session takes 1 to 2 hours. The activity is led by lecturer (mostly external member or internal
employee). The groups have from 5 – 20 participants, in some activities (choir groups), there can be up to 50 participants.
The groups (focused on sport, dance, music, etc.) participate local, national or international competitions during the year.
Most of these activities take place in our main building in the city centre of Ceske Budejovice. We also have 3 other
workplaces – 2 of them are located in Ceske Budejovice, the last one is located in Ledenice (10 km far away).

During the summer break (July – August) we organize summer camps and day camps. Summer camps last usually 1 or 2
weeks. They are provided for children from 6 to 15 years old. It can be focused on something (e.g. art & crafts, fishing,
cycling, dancing, singing, softball, etc.) or it can be for anyone without a special interest. We have 3 camp bases which
are located in South Bohemia
• Mrhal – the newest summer camp base is located 10km from Ceske Budejovice,
• Jenisov – it is located 50 km from Ceske Budejovice, nearby Lipno Dam
• Predni Vyton – the biggest summer camp base (up to 60 people) is located 65 km from Ceske Budejovice, nearby Lipno
Dam
Day camps are situated in Ceske Budejovice and its surroundings. It offers to visit many places in the city (e.g. museums,
exhibitions, sport activities, etc.) and also it provides one-day trips to surroundings (other cities – Trebon, Cesky Krumlov;
ZOO, hiking, etc.)
Last but not least we are interest in local community, which means we provide events for public people without age
difference. The biggest occasion in “Spring in the villa,” where we present our activities to public. This event visits
hundreds of people every year. It is located in our main building in Ceske Budejovice and usually it takes in April. Other
big events for public which we provide are “Christmas in the villa” in December and “Easter in the villa” (spring – depends
on Easter holidays).
In 2019 we started to focus more on courses and events for public (for everyone without age difference). Every month we
have few courses based on art & crafts (for people from 6 years old) and one weekend in the month we organize special
events called “Weekends in the villa.” This event is every month focused on different things (e. g. an escape game, board
games, cooking classes, family quiz, day in life of Harry Potter, etc.).
We are ready to host 1 or 2 volunteers. We are looking for someone who would like to stay here 12 months and who is
excited for youth work. We offer some seasonal activities (summer camps), that´s why the whole year is great opportunity
for volunteers to try different types of youth work.
