Kirjeldus

The volunteer will work in the Margarete-Steiff-Haus, a residential facility for adults with disabilities in Berlin. 16 adults with intellectual disabilities live there, normally their entire life. In the sense of inclusion, the volunteer supports the residents of a residential group in everyday life to enable them to live as normal as possible and to participate in society in a variety of ways: The 8 residents live as independently as possible and take care of themselves, everyone has his / her own room. The residents should be accompanied and supported in this process and their everyday life, especially in situations in which they cannot cope independently. Here it would be nice if the volunteer would support the care staff. This includes leisure activities, household chores such as assistance with eating, shopping, and cooking, help with everyday activities such as getting up, getting dressed and undressing, evening activities, etc.

Majutus, toitlustus, transport

The volunteer will be living in one apartment (2 rooms, kitchen, bathroom) in a shared apartment with other volunteers. Each volunteer will have a private room. The volunteer will receive 7 Euro/day as pocket money in monthly payments. The volunteer will be reimbursed for the costs of a public transport ticket (Deutschland Ticket 58€/month). The volunteer will receive a food fee of 333€/month. The volunteer will receive a financial contribution to his/her travel costs from his/her place of origin to Germany and back. The amount depends on the distance traveled.
