Animal shelter "Lesė"
Vilnius, Leedu
Kirjeldus
The animal rescue organisation “Lesė” was founded in 2007. In the shelter, we have cats and dogs waiting for their forever homes. Our goals include finding new homes for homeless animals, providing them with temporary shelter and veterinary treatment, carrying out “Catch-Neuter-Release” programs for cats, and much more. Our mission is to provide high-quality supervision for sheltered animals and share information about animal welfare with the public. Our volunteers are caring for cats and dogs in the shelter: feeding, cleaning cages, walking the dogs, cleaning cat rooms, getting them ready for photoshoots and preparing them for the trip to the veterinary office. Besides that, they are taking part in all sorts of events and festivals to spread the word about animal welfare and volunteering. We are looking for a volunteer for a 10-12 months placement (starting in June 2026). There is no possibility of doing a short-term placement.
Majutus, toitlustus, transport
Your volunteer experience in Vilnius should be about impact, not stress. That’s why we provide a comfortable living setup in a shared flat where you can connect with other international volunteers while still enjoying the privacy of your own bedroom. We provide a monthly transport pass and a stipend for your living expenses, leaving you free to explore everything Lithuania has to offer. You’ll also be fully supported by a dedicated team of experts—including a personal mentor, a project coordinator, and a tutor—who are all committed to helping you get the absolute most out of every single day.
Koolitused tegevuse ajal
We know that moving to a new country is a big step, which is why we’ve built a comprehensive support network. From the structured National Agency trainings to the regular, friendly check-ins with your coordinating organisation, you’ll always have a roadmap for your progress. Beyond the logistics, we prioritise your well-being through regular reflection sessions. These gatherings offer a peaceful and supportive atmosphere where you can share your story, gain fresh perspectives from fellow volunteers, and grow both as a person and a professional in a community that cares about your journey.
Osaleja profiil
We're looking for highly motivated individuals who share our passion for animal rights and have some previous experience working in an animal shelter (or any other relevant experience). If you're patient, willing to help, and full of initiative, then this is the opportunity for you! As a volunteer, you must have a positive attitude towards your work and be able to withstand certain smells, you should not be afraid of dogs or cats and should let us know if you have any allergies. In your motivational letter, we want to know why YOU should be selected for this opportunity. Be specific about how this volunteering experience will benefit both you personally and the shelter (it is mandatory).
