Citywise Education
Dublin, Iirimaa
Kirjeldus
Citywise Education works within underserved communities, offering programmes that raise young people’s educational aspirations, supporting them to reach their full potential. Citywise serves over 2000 young people each year in the local community of West Tallaght, Dublin, with personal development, STEAM and academic based programmes, building on the important work being done in schools to create a community approach to ending educational disadvantage in our area. As an ESC volunteer, you will be directly involved in the day-to-day running of the organisation, coordinating and leading programmes for young people afterschool and during school hours on site in Citywise. These programmes include activities in sport, personal development, STEAM, team building and many more. Your role will be to assist/support staff delivering these programmes throughout the academic year, including seasonal camps at Easter and Summer. You will also become involved in initiatives like our local draw.
Majutus, toitlustus, transport
Citywise provides accommodation with local host families for the duration of the visit. If a volunteer agrees to staying with a host family, 50% of the strip-end will be paid to the host families which includes payment for rent, bills, & food. Volunteers can find their own accommodation if desired, however this can be costly and we recommend staying with a host family. Citywise is accessible by foot and is only a 15-20 minute walk from the accommodation. Citywise also offer a bike rental service for volunteers if of interest. Lunch in Citywise is provided daily which costs a nominal fee.
Koolitused tegevuse ajal
Firstly, volunteers will participate in mandatory training with Ireland's national organisation for ESC, Leargas. This can involve arranged weekend and day-long training activities for volunteers across Ireland, allowing you to meet other European volunteers on a ESC-51 project. Citywise offer weekly English classes with a dedicated teacher for volunteers to improve their proficiencies in the English language. Volunteers will also participate in staff training, improving your communication, team-building, IT, planning and leadership skills, providing you with new expertise in youth work.
