Volunteers will work at Youth Cultural Center Monde. Work includes organizing small-scale activities e.g. handicrafts and other workshops that can be attended by the customers of the Monde. Volunteers will also work at Monde’s cafeteria on events (serving customers, baking and cleaning). There is also a possibility to work as a stagehand on events and to work in a rehearsal room and recording studio with bands and artists. Also an opportunity to do graphic design for events. All the workers are responsible for the basic upkeep of the premises. We want to help the people of Rovaniemi to experience a sense of community when participating in the activities organized by the volunteers. It is also important to raise awareness among the local youngsters about the European Solidarity Corps program and the possibilities it offers. The volunteers work 30 hours weekly, normally divided in 5 days.
Ubytování, stravování, doprava
The travel to Rovaniemi and back home after the project as well as housing, food allowance and pocket money are covered by the project fund. The housing is organized in an apartment shared by other volunteers. The food and pocket money are paid at the end of each month to a European bank account. The residence permit and the insurance are covered by the project fund. Volunteers also have free wifi in their apartment. The volunteers' apartment is located next to the workplace, close to the city center. The workplace can be reached on foot, otherwise the volunteers have bicycles in use.
Odborná příprava během činnosti
The volunteers will have several days of orientation to the practical matters, the working community and the town. Training in Finnish language is covered by the project funds and is included in working hours. The volunteers have the support of the project coordinator, a work instructor and a mentor. Together with their mentor, each volunteer will make him/herself a portfolio (EUROPASS or other) where is described their participation and learning during the project. They will also receive a ESC participant certificate after the project.
Profil účastníka
We will select two sociable and rather independent young adults interested in the project themes. The English language is necessary to adapt to the work organization and the local community. The volunteers will be chosen preferably from different countries. Since they will live in a shared flat, they should be rather tolerant and flexible with other people. It is an advantage, if the volunteers have some personal interest or hobby, that may be useful in the project activities. We are looking for volunteers only for a long project (12 months).
