We work on the basis of Maria Montessori's reform pedagogical concept according to the guiding principle “Help me to do it myself”. Children enjoy doing things and being active. The prepared environment takes these needs into account: sensory material, exercises from everyday life, material from the areas of language, mathematics and geography invite them to act. Regular movement is also part of our concept. Accompanying the children in the children's home is about everyday support. In practical terms, this means that you will spend the day in the group and will be involved in everything from drying tears, accompanying meals, designing learning spaces, assisting with meals and going to the toilet. A large part of our work is the independence of the children in everyday life. Montessori education places a lot of responsibility on each child themselves and so we see ourselves as learning companions.
Ubytování, stravování, doprava
You will get a room in a shared apartment with 2 volunteers from the ESC in Hildesheim. You will get the offical amount for foods: 313,00€ per month. We will offer a bike and a ticket for local trasportation.
Odborná příprava během činnosti
We would like to give you the opportunity to recognize your own learning goals in regular reflection meetings and would like to support you in implementing them within our framework. At the end of your voluntary service, you will receive a Youth Pass certificate from us documenting your work and learning progress We offer preparation support before departure together with your sending organization, there is a 7 days welcome training after arrival and another reflection training during your service (5days). Further offers from your coordinating organization and return event back home.
Profil účastníka
The most important part of our work is the contact with the children in our learning center in the form of learning support according to the principles of Maria Montessori. Therefore, we would like you to have the courage to come into contact with children. Not being shy, being interested in their topics and approaching other people and situations with an open mind are certainly qualities that will make it easier for you to join us. We do not expect you to have any particular educational qualifications. Of course, you will not be able to communicate perfectly in German from the start, but we think that there are many ways in which communication can take place outside of language (gestures, facial expressions).
