The volunteers would be for 7 months in the city of Thessaloniki and support Balkan Hotspot Media-Lab project. The main activities of the project are related to Web Media. On the website of the project (www.balkanhotspot.org) you can find the articles, the radio podcasts, the link to the videos and to the E-Magazine "Balkan Beats" made with the essential contribution of our volunteers. Through these tools, the volunteers, in cooperation with the youth of the local society and the other volunteers of our organisation, will contribute to create and maintain a space of free expression and communication among young people, always within the context of the subjects, the principles and the goals of the ESC Programme. Balkan Hotspot is a free space to talk about relevant topics regarding the volunteers home countries and the Greek society. The program will also highly focus on the organisation of external activities for the local community, such as workshops, cultural events and campaigns.
Ubytování, stravování, doprava
During the project the support organization will provide a house in Thessaloniki where the volunteers will be staying. This is a house with five floors and a terrace. Two floors are common spaces, three floors are where the room are located. Each volunteer will share their bedroom with one/three more ESC volunteers. There is heating system, two washing-machines, Internet and all electronic machines. The volunteer will be provided with meals by a professional catering service. Local monthly metro and bus transportation card is also covered.
Odborná příprava během činnosti
Workshops about journalism, video making, radio and social media. Task related training. On-arrival and mid-term training.
Profil účastníka
The participant will have to be between 18 and 30 years old and be genuinely interested in the support of Balkan Hotspot. The participant must have knowledge of the English language since English is going to be the language of communication between the participant and the organization. Knowledge on journalism, video making, graphic designing, article writing, social media/content creation and radio will be strongly appreciated, however, the strongest factor for the participant's selection will be their authentic motive and desire to participate. Since the project focuses on external events reaching the local community and youth, who can also be of different backgrounds, strong motivation to organise external activities, communicate with people and engage in offline events and campaigns is of high consideration for applicants.
