Volunteering tasks: Main task is making social media content. In addition to that: assisting Vasatokka staff with national and international youth work: camp schools, kids camps, special youth work camps, Erasmus+ and ESC team projects, international youth camps - Planning & guiding activities for youth groups, helping organize happenings in youth center and elsewhere in Inari - Cleaning & maintenance - Assisting kitchen with dishes, when there are big groups in- Assisting with office work related to youth work projects - There can be visits to other small villages of Lapland e.g. schools & youth houses to organize international activities - Working in municipal youth house & assisting at hobby clubs with local youngsters. Volunteer will gain experience and learn working life skills related to youth work, group leading, tourism and nature sector, develop language skills and gain cultural knowledge, including rich, local indigenous culture (Sámi). Majutus, toitlustus, transport

Hostel-like apartment with a private bedroom, shared living room, showers, toilet, and well-equipped kitchen. There can be occasionally a need to share the bedroom with other volunteer. Sauna is available. Check: http://www.vasatokka.fi/en Volunteers can have ready-served meals in the youth center dining room when there are customer groups with meals included. On days when ready meals are not provided, volunteers cook for themselves, and and purchase groceries from Inari village. Monthly food money is around 130€. No public transportation, 10km distance to Inari. Bicycles/skis etc. for use!

Koolitused tegevuse ajal

Working language is English (also changes to learn finnish). If needed, volunteer takes part in online linguistic course, and it is considered as working time. Volunteer takes part in On-arrival training (5 days) organized by Finnish National Agency. On-arrival training is arranged in Southern Finland, Kokkola, Youth Center Villa Elba. Volunteer takes part also in mid-term evaluation (2 days), which is organized nearby Helsinki, the capital city. You don't have to be an expert in social media, but willing to learn independently & fearlessly putting new skills to practice!

Spend 10 months making content in the Arctic! During 10 months you will experience colourful autumn foliage, freezing temperatures and northern lights on a long kaamos nights, and get to celebrate the return of the sun and spring in the arctic. You will have a chance to live a more simplified life in the middle of rich, indigenous Sámi culture and beautiful wilderness landscape, living remotely by a beautiful lake. What kind of person are we looking for: We desperately need someone to help improve our social media presence. For example, if you looked at our info pack, and thought how you’d improve it, you could be our person! We hope to find someone who: -Loves social media, storytelling, or photography/video -Is creative, positive, and open-minded -Social and approachable, enjoys working with kids and young people -Responsible and reliable, able to complete tasks independently and take initiative -Flexible, since schedules and plans may sometimes change -Motivated to help with different tasks (from guiding groups to maintenance/cleaning) -Able to follow schedules and be punctual -Positive and energetic -Is ready for a remote adventure in nature and has pioneering spirit! The nearest village, Inari, is about 10 km away, and there is no public transportation. During free time volunteers can cycle to the village, or drive our car to the village once a week for grocery shopping (driving licence is a plus!) We are looking for a long-term volunteer (9-10months) to join our team at Youth Center Vasatokka. The volunteer will work with youth workers and support activities for children and young people in an international and natural environment. According to the European Solidarity Corps guidelines, priority will be given to applicants who: -Are currently unemployed -Are not studying or in training -Have limited previous opportunities to travel or participate in programs -Can be considered young people with fewer opportunities This may include people facing obstacles due to economic, social, cultural, geographical, health, or other circumstances as defined in the European Union program guidelines.
