Be the Sun is an ESC Volunteering Teams project that brings together young people from across Europe to Panciu, Romania, for 53 days of solidarity, creativity, and community life. Organised by Asociația Lumea lui Pinocchio, this project focuses on social inclusion of disadvantaged children, especially from Roma backgrounds, using non-formal education tools. Volunteers will: ✔️ Prepare and implement the fifth edition of Be the Sun : a multicultural, free festival for the local community (artistic workshops, performances, entertainment); ✔️ Support daily non-formal activities at the Pinocchio Center for vulnerable children; ✔️ Help improve the Center’s spaces through simple repairs, cleaning, or creative decoration; ✔️ Capture moments of the project through photography or video (optional). The project promotes teamwork, creativity, youth participation, and intercultural learning in a community where opportunities for young people are limited.
Majutus, toitlustus, transport
The volunteers will be living or at the center with dormitories (max 6 people/ room) and shared bathrooms for 12 people. Volunteers will be provided with monthly pocket money of 4 Euro for each day of service. The food will be provided by the organisation: the volunteers will cook in teams with the ingredients provided according to the planned meals'. The transports costs are covered under the ESC rules.
Koolitused tegevuse ajal
The participant will engage in non formal education activities with the support of our teacher and other staff members. The participant will also be in close contact with our mentor, to ensure that the experience matches his/her expectations. The organisation is providing a pre-departure online meeting, an On Arrival Training and an Evaluation workshop.

We are searching for young people with a strong interest in ensuring the rights of the most disadvantaged groups and with a big passion for creative activities. Reliability, critical thinking and availability are some of the qualities we are searching for in a participant, along with a willingness to work as part of a multicultural team and with a desire for self growth and for contributing to other people's growth.
